Sustainability – a contagious idea
“Ideas can be remarkably contagious“, outlines Stefanos, our international bike hero. “The application and potent of which”, he adds, “usually require successful results. A sustainable, eco-conscious and prosperous company, for example, should lead the way with such ideas.” COCO-MAT and COCO-MAT.bike have always been such organizations and our latest proud moment is our collaboration with the Dutch company SANTINO and their brilliant people. The story of Marly, the wonderful Marketer of SANTINO, has been nothing less but inspiring, meaningful and exemplary. We, at COCO-MAT.bike, hope to continue to inspire people and organizations to thrive while respecting and sustaining our precious Planet and its resources. I work as a marketer for the company Santino. Santino has set up a very cool and sustainable promotion in collaboration with COCO-MAT.bike ! Customers could win a sustainable COCO-MAT kick scooter. HOW TO USE THE BIKE
We know, we know…It’s not the most familiar bicycle at a first glance. But once you get the hang of it, you will fall in love with the effortless and solid bicycle performance. Here’s what you need to know before your rides. REAR BRAKE with back pedaling (old school, maintenance free high quality brake) – you need to get used to it a bit. FRONT BRAKE works manually like with every bike (is enough to brake with for low speed cycling) GEAR SHIFT is activated by slightly back pedaling (a small click). If you back pedal hard you activate rear brake, if you back pedal soft you shift gears. You have two available gears, so back pedaling takes you from 1-2 or 2-1. You might start the bicycle and feel kind of hard, that means that it’s left on the 2…

What if it breaks?
You will see it in the streets of the world. Some claim to have seen it flying… – “What if it falls?” – “Even if it falls, it will not break.” https://coco-mat.bike/wp-content/uploads/sites/4143/2021/11/IMG_3312-2.mp4

First planting action in Belgium
After a very successful year since the opening of our first COCO-MAT bike shop in Belgium, our team organized a tree planting action together with BOS +, a local environmental organization that focuses on forest management and conservation in Belgium and abroad. A whole volleyball field of trees was planted in Landskouter, Belgium (50 ° 57’58.0 “N 3 ° 47’49.2” E.). How did we go there all the way from Antwerp? By our COCO-MAT bikes of course! Upon our arrival, we wrote the names of each and every customer’s name on a piece of paper that we hung on every little tree we planted. After our hands got muddy and green, together with other friends, partners and clients we cooked and enjoyed a warm soup. What a pleasure to see our wooden bikes around the world, leaving their green footprint…

Cycling on a Wooden Bike During Trying Times
The founder of COCO-MAT Group, Paul Efmorfidis, began his journey on 8/1/2020 at 07am local time from Athens, Greece to Kathmandu, Nepal solely on his 2SPEED COCO-MAT folding bike. His plan afterwards was to climb Mount Everest with a kid’s balance bike on his back. The aim was to create awareness and send a message to his family, friends, companies and the rest of the world to restore the relationship between human beings and Nature. Unfortunately, his journey was forced to be canceled due to the outbreak of COVID-19. He had already covered 6.354 kilometers only by his wooden bike within 3 months time. His herculean effort didn’t not go in vain though. Ever since, the bicycle industry has seen a tremendous growth, a phenomenon that has created even more cyclists and bicycle infrastructure around the world. Without even knowing…
