Make a journey back to the industrial past of the island
You will learn about the cultivation, processing & production of tomato; You will get to witness a full range of the processing machinery, hand-written account books of the plant, old tools as well as audiovisual material with stories of people who worked there.
Last but not least, you will taste traditional juicy tomatoes & seal your own tomato pulp. The Museum has a shop with memorabilia for anyone interested.
Following our visit to Santorini’s Tomato Industrial Museum we navigate to Vlychada beach – located on the south coast of Santorini. It stands out for the overwhelming carved cliffs that resemble a sculptor’s work but is, in fact, a natural process owed to the volcano, the wind and the sea.
It is a lengthy beach with relatively shallow waters and dark volcanic sand and pebbles. There you will get to quench your thirst with light refreshments at the beach bar. Our trip ends by returning to Perissa – the initial meeting point.
